About

The Mission:
To convince the world that beauty isn’t one size fits all, that it’s how you leave the world behind that makes a person beautiful.

The Idea:
Find 11 women to appear with me (Trish Caddy) in a nude calendar for 2010, showcasing beauty in the form of diversity, strength, and self-confidence. Sales of these calendars and money raised through other fundraising events will be donated to BC Cancer Foundation, and, if we raise $25,000 by involving both the campus and community at large, then all 12 of us will publicly shave our heads and donate our hair to Locks of Love in support of women and chemotherapy patients everywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. How much nudity will be featured in the calendar?

Nudity in the upcoming calendar is limited. There will be no nipples or genitalia shown, and the calendars are intended to focus on beauty and strength as opposed to sex and sexuality.

  2. Why a nude calendar as opposed to another type of calendar or fundraising idea?

The nude calendar is intended to be a celebration of all aspects of women. Embracing the body for how it is, and not how it might be, is one of the key focus points of this project. I feel that women should be able to acknowledge that although we do not all look the same, we all have the capacity to be beautiful, and to have beautiful lives. A calendar format allows people to remind themselves of this year-round.

  3. Why the head-shaving?

Proof. The idea behind this campaign is that, while all shapes and sizes can be beautiful, beauty, at its core, is what you choose to do with the life you’ve been given. If we all just posed in a calendar and stopped there, we’d be undermining our mission. By shaving our heads when the goal is reached, we are sending the message that we really do believe that our actions speak louder than our looks ever could.

  4. Why cancer?

Cancer affects everyone. It is a disease we hear about almost daily, so much so that it’s almost become meaningless to anyone fortunate enough not to have a recent brush with it. Targeting this disease is not only a worthy cause in itself, but I believe that the fight against this common cause will not only bring us closer to the cure, but closer to each other in the process.

  5. Where are you going to find 11 women willing to appear in the calendar AND shave their heads?

It’ll be a challenge, but that’s the point. I believe they’re out there. It’s a powerful message with a bold plan of attack, and I can’t accept the idea that out of about 11,000 ladies on campus that I’m the only one out there who is willing to embody the idea. The challenge is giving them the opportunity to prove it to themselves and the world.
